    Warriors of the Rising,

    Rising has been up for more than 7 years. We have made achievements that no other server has came close to and have continued to be the leader in improving the Dekaron experience consistently and significantly.

    It is not easy for me to write this. Partially because this is something that has not happened in the entirety of the 7 + years that Rising has been open. Partially because I feel like we are letting players down. Regardless, the only thing we can do now is move forward. This is a long post but we want to be as honest and transparent as possible. We see this as a failure but also an opportunity to do better and make it up to you all.

     

    What happened?

    The company that we host several of our servers with had a pretty bad fire that affected 4 of their data-centers. We had 3 servers at 3 different centers. Only one of the data-centers hit by the fire was recoverable, the rest were destroyed.

    Rising has never had a rollback before. Our backups automatically upload to a server in another data-center every hour. However, in this case, since the fire hit both our main database server and backup database server, our hourly backups were also destroyed by the fire.

    The fire made international news.

     

    We had to make a decision.
     

    Our main database was in datacenter SGP 2. Our backup server was in datacenter SGP 3. Unfortunately... both of these datacenters were destroyed in the fire. In SGP 2 all servers were destroyed. In SGP 3 30-80% of the servers were destroyed. There is a possibility of data recovery, but according to the company, it would take at least a month to find out, and even then there is a possibility of data corruption or nonrecoverable data. We can't leave the servers down for a month to find out.

    Rollback to February 10th, 10:00PM Server Time (UTC +3).

    The good news is that we had a backup stored on yet another server that was not affected by the fire.

    The bad news is that this backup was from February 10th, 10:00PM Server Time (UTC + 3).

    Unfortunately... : / ..... this means.....

    • Game Accounts created after February 10th will not exist.
    • Characters created after February 10th will not exist.
    • Donations made after February 10th will need to be re-sent.

     

    Compensation (Part 1)

    • Double EXP has been activated until March 31st.
    • Double PPoints (DKSquare/Colosseum) has been activated until March 31st.
    • Double Grade Points has been activated until March 31st.
    • Instant Grade Warmeister Rank (Grade 50) - each character will get up to grade 50 by gaining 1 grade exp point. Reminder, min. level to get grade 50 is lvl 50 until March 31st.
    • Upgrading rates +1~10 have been increased by 5% until March 31st. 
    • All new characters will start with a +10 Osmium set.
    • All donations that are re-sent will be sent an additional 25% coins.
    • Free D-Shop Items - Every 15 minutes a random player that is online will randomly receive a free D-Shop item. This will be completely randomized except for these constraints:
      • The same person (based on HWID, IP address, and more factors) will not receive more than one item per day.
      • The D-Shop item received is random, however, IF the D-Shop item is class based (like costumes or wings) the system will make sure that the item sent is appropriate for the class.
    • Events - Staff members will be throwing tons of events on both Ark and Yuki. More details to be announced soon.
    • Auto-Event System - We will be releasing an auto-event system that automatically throws certain events based on a schedule (to ensure players of all time-zones can attend).

    Compensation (Part 2) will be announced soon. 

    We are still considering additional options for compensation. Once people re-make their characters, we could potentially send people clean Osmium/Teragrace sets.

    We may also be increasing option rates.

     

    Donations

    • If you donated after February 10th, 10PM (to yourself or another character) you need to create a support ticket with the character name you donated to and your email. A screenshot of the invoice/email/receipt would help us process it faster.
    • All donations that are re-sent will be sent an additional 25% coins.
    • If another person donated to your character, please create a ticket with your information and as much info as you have (when the donation was, character name, etc.) Ask the person who donated to your character for screenshots/receipts, those will help us send the coins faster.

     

    Coin-Transfers

    • If you have coins and you would like to "trade" them to another person for items, middle men and other staff will now have the ability to transfer coins to other characters. You will just need an MM to do the transfer of coins.

     

    Compensation Part X: Possibility of Additional Compensation

    If you listened to the audio above, you heard that there is a very small possibility that some data may be recoverable, however it may take at least a month (probably longer) to find out. However, if we find out that data is recoverable, we will be providing additional compensation based on what data is recoverable.

     

    What will Rising do to make sure this never happens again?

    • Database backups will be taken hourly and sent to not one, not two, but three different backup servers.
    • Each of the 3 new backup servers will be
      • be a different major cloud provider (Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud)
      • be in a different physical location (on a completely different continent).
    • This won't happen again. Period.

     

    We're sorry for letting you down...

    Although the incident was out of our control, we really wish there was more we could do. Some of us on the staff team feel like we personally let our players down. Please go easy on us. It will take time, but we will recover as a community and as a server. Rising has been up for 7 years thanks to the dedication of our players. It is times like this when we rely on our community for their patience and understanding while we do everything in our power to give you the best gaming experience.

    I personally feel terrible. I, among other members of the staff team, care for this server as we would care for our children. I can only hope that we can come together as the Rising family we are and get through this.

     

    We are working on something pretty cool...

    This is still really early.. but imagine if the client had graphics as new as a game from this year. Imagine if we had full control over the client. Could that be something we are working on?

    What if we cant remember the name of the seller of donation? Is there another way to work it out? I have bought to alot of people all are 50$ VIP. Theres almost no way i can remember it all :(

    Ow never mind i just remember that since it rolled back the dills I used are also there back to me right? 

    If my logic was right then only those people who bought donation for their own use will need that resending of coins because if I just bought the donation then the item/dills i used to buy it will be there back on my inventory.

    If someone made a donation to a character that was not theirs, we will be sending the coins to both people: the person who bought the coins and the person who received them. Both need to make a ticket with the information.
