We're pleased to announce that the the Server Upgrade Pt. 2 has been released. So far we've seen some really good results from our players. Some have reported dropping 100-200ms, others have reported dropping over 400ms+. That said, we've been told that the game feels a lot smoother (regardless of ms). This is the case because the in game latency counter has never been that accurate to begin with.
In just two days we've had over 1510 client launches connect to Asia. During peak Asia player time, the Asia cloud suffered some lag spikes due to capacity issues.
We have just finished upgrading the Asia channel. If you're in game, you'll need to close your client and update it in order to connect to it.
The system now also tells you your REAL ms upon optimal server determination (see screenshot below).
How does it work?
When you launch the client, you'll be greeted with a small new window that says "Determining best servers..". While you see this, the game client is connecting to our different network uplinks around the world and determining which will give you the best connection. Once it finishes, it will tell you which cloud it has connected to, and launch the game.
Now after you log in, you'll only see "Ark" and "Lurile" instead of all the previous options. This is because the game has already determined the best option and applied it!
Note: For load balancing purposes, there are over 8 Main Clouds.
What about DK Square / Colosseum?
The same change applies to DK Square and Colosseum. Once the best network is determined, your client will use that when connecting to all channels (including DKS/Colo channels).
What's next? Will there be a Server Upgrade Pt. 3?
So far we've been testing the uplinks you see in the image above. We're still conducting tests with South America uplinks and uplinks in the Middle East (عربى Cloud). In terms of the Middle-East specifically, we're waiting on Amazon AWS to launch their Middle East cloud.
We will also be continuing to optimize our existing clouds and network routes to improve game latency further.
Network optimization (especially at this scale) is an ongoing challenge. We may never finish, but we will always continue to improve.
Once of the things we love about Rising is how diverse our playerbase is. It's truly an honor to be playing with and working with so many people all around the world. Our goal is to give you guys the most enjoyable experience and we will do our best to continue doing so. Thank you guys for your patience and support.
